Oscar Sabetta nació en San Lorenzo, Provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina. Pasó su niñez en su ciudad natal, situada en la zona conocida como La Pampa Gringa.

Su primera cámara fue una Kodak Instamatic 104, regalo de sus padres cuando cumplió 15 años. A los 21 años viajó a Europa y con su nueva Canon FT QL y un lente 50mm regresó con cientos de slides tomados en más de 15 países de ese continente, que se utilizaron en la realización de audiovisuales sobre el viejo mundo.

Luego de otros viajes a ese mismo continente, dejó su país y en México comenzó su carrera como fotógrafo de la United Press Internacional(UPI). Más tarde pasó a la agencia británica Reuters cubriendo eventos importantes en Sudamérica y Europa. Continuó como freelance habiendo trabajado y visitado casi la totalidad de los países Americanos, y Europeos. Ha residido en México, Perú, Brasil, Inglaterra, Holanda, Cuba, Venezuela y actualmente vive en Bogota, Colombia.

Sus fotos han sido publicadas en TIME, Newsweek, The Economist, Le Figaro, L'Express, Der Spigel, entre otras revistas y periódicos internacionales.

Ha sido distinguido con los premios 'George Polk Award en Fotografía Periodística' de la Universidad de Long Island, New York, y 'The Deadline Award, Premio a la Excelencia en Fotografía Noticiosa' New York City, Professional Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi.

  

Oscar Sabetta was born in San Lorenzo, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. He spent his childhood in his native city, located in the well-known zone La Pampa Gringa.

After several trips to Europe in the decade of the 70s, he left his country and travelled to Mexico where he started his career as professional photographer, working for United Press International (UPI) and later on for the British news agency Reuters, covering important events in Central and South America, and Europe.

He has worked and visited almost all of the American and European countries. He has lived in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, England, Holland, Cuba, Venezuela, and currently he lives in Bogota, Colombia.

His photos have been published by TIME, Newsweek, The Economist, le Figaro, L'Express, Der Spigel, among other international magazines and newspapers.

Sabetta has been distinguished with the prestigeous George Polk Award prize in Journalistic Photography of the University of Long Island, New York and The Deadline Award, Prize to the Excellence in Photography, of the New York City, Professional Chapter of Sigma Chi Delta.
